CANgineBT

Development of the CANgine devices startet at the end of 2002. The first device, called CANgine No.1, a simple converter between CAN and RS232 was introduced in 2003. It was soon followed by CANgine FMS, a device that converts the FMS messages sampled at a trucks CAN bus to serial data. It was developed for suppliers of truck telematics hardware. Due to a customer request for a Bluetooth link CANgineBT was developed, which converts from CAN to Bluetooth SPP. Upon another customer request the telematics version was provides as a chip solution for integration in customer hardware. Today thousands of CANgine devices are operating all over the world.

The CANgine device family has its own web site under the domain CANgine.com.

Together with Philips, Sunnyvale (today known as NXP), ESS developed a superfast CANopen protocol chip that is based on the 16 bit micro PXA C37.  The response time between a CAN PDO message and the answer at the output port needs only a few microseconds.  With this development, completely new application areas have opened up for CANopen in which extremely fast response times are required.
